The challenge is simple. The rewards are priceless.
Read books to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten.
How to Start:
- Register: Sign up at one of the Library Locations or create an account on Beanstack (child readers are added to the parent's account.)
Track Your Reading:
- You can keep track in Beanstack
- Or use paper reading logs: Have your child color in a book for every book read to them. If they color in all the books on the log they will have reached 100 books! Print the logs at home or get them in the library.
- Every Book Counts: Even if your child wants to hear the same book again and again, you can count it each time. You can also count the books your child hears in Storytime, in daycare or preschool, or with a friend or family member!
- 100-Book Milestones: Each time you read 100 books, come to the library to receive a certificate - bring your paper log with you or have the librarian check your Beanstack account.
- 1,000 Books: When you reach the goal of 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten your little reader will receive a special reading medal!
