Through Counseling, Assistance, Referrals and Education, it is our goal to provide Real Solutions for Real Problems that are experienced as a part of daily living.

For more than 200 years, Prevention and Wellness has been the cornerstone of the MCHD. By encouraging preventive practices, promoting health and wellness, and providing educational services to the communities of Mobile County, prevention and wellness continue to exemplify the vision of a healthy, safe, prepared, and educated community.

In addition to providing public housing to those who qualify, there is a housing counseling program and help with financial planning. There is also a daycare and after-school care for children. Cost varies by ability to pay, but is discounted for people in public housing.

The City of Mobile has fifteen community centers: nine large centers with multiple rooms and gymnasiums and six small centers located in neighborhood parks. Our center staff and partners provide daily classes and activities, as well as, seasonal sports leagues. Most of our centers can be rented or reserved for private events. We lead the fight to protect children, creating vital resources for them and the people who keep them safe.

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) provides funding for the ongoing operation of a 24-hour, national, toll-free telephone hotline.

Confidential crisis intervention and support for runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth and their families. Available 24/7 via phone or live chat through our website. o May provide free bus tickets back home for qualifying youth ages 12-21.

Low cost childcare after school, Sign Language Classes and programs for Autistic Children.

Prism United responds to the comprehensive needs of LGBTQ+ youth in Southwest Alabama. Specifically, Prism works to mitigate the psychological, socio-economic, and academic disadvantages caused by repression and victimization.

Programs and Services:

Facilitated, curriculum-based virtual and in-person gatherings through our Prism Teens (14-18), Prism Pre-Teens (10-13), and Prism Families programs

No insurance is required for Low to no-cost medication in Baldwin County, Gulf Shores, and Mobile. 

Prescriptions can be picked up in person, delivered within Baldwin County, or mailed to other locations. o Most Medications are less than $10 and Antibiotics are free. 

RxAngels allows a customer 3 free month of medications per year. 

• Counseling - Free and confidential crisis counseling is provided to survivors of sexual violence. This is available for the survivor and their family, friends, intimate partners, or other secondary survivors.
• Legal Advocacy - If a client wishes to press charges against her/his assailant,our staff will serve as an advocate throughout the law enforcement and criminal justice proceedings.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Mobile provides a supportive home environment offering care, compassion, and hope to families with seriously ill and injured children being treated at area hospitals.

To qualify, families must have a child 21 years of age or younger being treated in one of our area hospitals and live at least 20-25 miles away, respite is also available upon request for those who qualify. Hospital staff must provide a referral for accommodations.

After school Program: Homework Assistance, Character Building, Recreational Activities for Grades K-6

With 50 years of experience, The Bridge is a leading treatment provider in Alabama for adolescents with substance use disorders and for those who need behavioral rehabilitation. Our services include early intervention, outpatient, residential and intensive in-home care. We have locations in 30 counties in Alabama and our caring, professional staff provide services that are individualized for each adolescent and their family. 

Programs available: 

Positive Parenting Classes built on the premise that maltreatment of children can be treated and prevented through a systematic application of family-based parenting classes. 

Elevate - Healthy Relationships are free classes for couples that focus on strengthening communication skills, deepening emotional connections, conflict resolution techniques, and more.
